I’ve learned some really valuable lessons during 7th grade and one is especially important, so I wanted to share it with you.
Have Confidence
The spirit weeks at my school have theme days and I love to dress up. There are always cool themes for each day like Tacky Tuesday and 80s Workout Wednesday. I am known to be super spirited, so needless to say, spirit weeks are my favorite weeks of the school year!
When I show up to school in my full-out, head to toe, themed outfit and I see that almost nobody dressed up, I start getting self conscious and full of doubt. But I have to get out of the car sometime. I walk in kinda fast and look down, trying to avoid eye contact, but then I see my friends dressed up too and I instantly feel better.
By the beginning of first period, I can walk around the school like I own the place! Everyone says I look awesome, which makes me feel awesome. Today, I got to walk down my teacher’s catwalk like a fashion show! It was so fun and I was happy that I dressed up and didn’t go home and change because pretty much no one else did.
What I’ve learned from that is that you have to just be confident in yourself and rock what you’re wearing.
If it’s a dress up day, go full out and rock it! The people who don’t dress up will see you having fun and think, “Wow, I wish I dressed up!” and “That looks awesome!”
You can’t doubt yourself. Ever. If you’re a spirited person, then dress up, even if nobody else does. You’ll be awesome and look totally cool.
