NuYo Frozen Yogurt Customer Appreciation Eventrozen-event

Let It Go! Let It Go! Frozen Day at NuYo!

June 12, 2014

“Let it go, let it go. Welcome to Frozen Day at NuYo!”

My Aunt Kimberly and Uncle Matt own an awesome frozen yogurt shop called NuYo! They had customer appreciation event last weekend that was FROZEN THEMED!

There was this super-amazing face painter on site for the day and painted my face with a Frozen theme (naturally) that was blue and white with sparkles and snow flakes! Carter’s was really cool, too! He got a dinosaur painted around his mouth so whenever he moved his mouth the dino’s mouth moved too!

After face painting and frozen yogurt, Elsa took a trip from Arendelle to NuYo! We got to meet Elsa and take a picture with her. Her dress was really sparkly, too! NuYo was all decorated for the event and everybody had a great time!

Monsters Inc Brownies for Birthday Party

Easter Monster, Say What?!

April 20, 2014

This year my brother Carter’s birthday and Easter landed on the same day! He wanted to celebrate both together so the whole family hit the park.

We celebrated Carter’s birthday monster style with a Monster’s Inc. theme! Everybody got monster glasses and we made brownies with monster eyes on them… REAL or FAKE? (I’ll give you a hint… its candy!)

Then we celebrated Easter! Everybody enjoyed the Easter egg hunt especially my cousins Riley and Chloe! They loved searching for the eggs and the prizes inside the eggs!

We played some games too.

One was where you balance an Easter egg on a spoon, run a race, and don’t let it drop — and a lot of people dropped their egg. But in the end the final winner was… DAD! He won an iTunes gift card, but dad ended up giving it to Carter because he wanted it so badly.

The final game was the most deadly, the most dangerous, and the most tough challenge of all — HOT POTATO! It started out as a nice slow game of hot potato, then it all came down to the last two… Uncle Dustin and Dad! It was a fierce fight between the two and in the end Uncle Dustin was the final victor. The prize was a ball full of nestle chocolate eggs and an iTunes card, but the chocolates melted and it was chocolate all over the container, the iTunes card, and Dad and Uncle Dustin! That was so funny!

Grandpa Daughter Dance

Grandpa Daughter Dance

March 18, 2014

Howdy Partner! Every year at school there is a Daddy-Daughter Dance and this time I decided to take my Grandpa Bourn!

Every year there is a different theme and this time we were having a hoedown. I dressed up all nice and cowgirly! Grandpa looked really nice, too! We had so much fun at the dance. We got to do some square dancing, some slow dancing together, and I got to dance with my friends a little bit, too!

The whole cafe was decorated to match the theme with hay bales, and fake animals outside, and western-style signs. Dancing with grandpa was so fun because he knew some pretty cool moves! I was really happy I got to spend some time with him and have fun together!

Rock Climbing For Kids At California Family Fitness

To The Top We Go! Rock Climbing at CalFit

February 15, 2014

We discovered a rock climbing adventure at the gym where I do indoor soccer — and we happen to have a membership!

There is a huge rock wall we have climbed several times now! I got to the top once and then couldn’t do it again until next time we went. Carter got to the top, too! When you’re at the top and let go you seem to float down slowly like a feather. It was challenging, but really fun!

The gym also has a trampoline wall that was really fun ride up and bounce down! When you go down and bounce hard you fly far away from the wall! Carter and I love the trampoline wall!

Star Wars Exhibit At The Tech

May The Force Be With You

February 9, 2014

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”

Today was so awesome! For my Grandpa’s birthday, we went to a special, limited-time Star Wars exhibit called Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination at The Tech with my mom, dad, brother, grandma, and grandpa! We saw different Star Wars models, costumes, movie props, and tons more awesome stuff!

And yes, as a true fan, I totally wore my Princess Leia hoodie!

I got to see models from the movie, like all the different ships, a chicken walker, and an AT-AT walker! All of the models had lots of detail. There was also a life size speeder like the one Luke drives on Tatooine! I also got to see the costumes for Darth Vader and Boba Fett used in the actual movies. We also saw the Wampa, Wookies, Yoda, and a battle droid! They were sooooooo cool and pretty big, too!

One part of the exhibit was an air ride. On the ride you steer, and the “ship” is floating in the air like a spaceship or speedster! I also got to control a robot with a remote and make it walk back and forth!

New Years In Tahoe

New Years At Lake Tahoe: Little Snow, Big Fun

December 31, 2013

This year we spent New Year’s Even in Tahoe — and it was so cool! We went skating and sledding, we played in the little snow there was, and just relaxed and played! I had so much fun hanging out with my baby cousins Riley and Chloe this vacation because they are super silly and extra cute!

One day while in Tahoe, we went to Northstar for the day and got to go ice skating.

Ice skating was the coolest thing ever! It took a lot of time to get the hang of it and it was hard, but when I did, I was skating around the middle of the rink and in circles around everyone. I even figured out how to do a spin although I fell A LOT trying that. I also fell A LOT when I was starting out because it is way harder than it looks! NOT KIDDING! So hard! I loved skating and trying something new!

At the vacation house, we did a lot of arts and crafts! We made numbers and decorated them with sequins, feathers, and stickers for a New Year’s Day photo and we did a lot of coloring and made princess hats to wear on New Year’s Eve!

Sledding In Lake Tahoe

Icy Snow Makes For Great Sledding

December 30, 2013

New Years in the snow = lots of fun with family!

There isn’t much snow around Lake Tahoe this year, but there we did find an awesome shady spot close to our vacation house to go sledding.

I was so nervous the first time, but when I went down that first hill… It was the coolest thing ever! I knew my brother would like it because he loves exploring and the outdoors, but I was surprised that my mom and dad tried it too! One of the many hills we rode on had a giant bump at the bottom and everyone that went down that hill flew into the air! It was a bit scary, but totally fun!

Driving Dune Buggies At Pismo Beach

November 27, 2013

Pismo Beach over Thanksgiving was amazing. We visited Hearst Castle, explored downtown SLO and little beach towns along the coast, hiked through the Cal Poly Architecture Graveyard, and on Thanksgiving Day, we did something extraordinary.

We drove dune buggies through the sand dunes!

The company we rented them from gave us special motor cycle helmets and goggles for safety and to keep the sand out of our eyes, and we had to watch a special safety video too!

They were so fast! We sped up and down gigantic sand hills — it was a little scary, exciting, and fun all at the same time! My brother and my mom were in one dune buggy and my dad and I were together in another because we like to go WAY FASTER and we did!

There is a section of the dunes called Worm Valley and near that location there was a note: DO NOT GO HERE! Not For Beginners! we were also warned not to go in that area by the rental company too. My dad and I we made sure we drive over there, but my mom and brother didn’t pay attention and they did and got stuck on the side of a giant sand mountain! We got stuck too and some guys had to help us … but it was soooooo coool!

Cal Poly Architecture Graveyard

Cal Poly Architecture Graveyard

November 26, 2013

When my almost-cousin Melanie left for college and Cal Poly, I was so sad. But we got to see her a lot of our week-long vacation to Pismo Beach!

In addition to hanging out and touring Hearst Castle together, we all walked around San Louis Obispo and explored the shops! We also visited Melanie at Cal Poly and she took us for an awesome hike through the Cal Poly Architecture Graveyard.

We were all so exited to see it and once we arrived, I couldn’t believe my eyes because it was fantastic! There were all kinds of weird structures, buildings, forts, and sculpture-ish things spread out in what feels like the middle of nowhere!

The first piece was a dome shaped tunnel that looked like a house, but you could go all the way through it! My brother Carter and I had a blast exploring the buildings. Then …

Is it a bird or is it a plane? Nope its a… pirate ship!

Okay, maybe it wasn’t a pirate ship, but it sure looked like it. It looked like it was a ship wreck that happened a long time ago! Carter and I climbed aboard the ship and pretended we were on a pirate quest!

The next building was what we called “the batman lookout” — we both climbed up the stairs and from the tower we could see the whole graveyard and it was an amazing and slightly creepy and weird view.

As we were looking out over the open space, we saw a giant dome! I thought they might be big tinker toys, but the pieces were metal and that creation was just an awesome fort — or it could be with some giant sheets!)

Our last stop was a stone spiral staircase! It was really fun to climb up the stairs!

Exploring Hearst Castle

November 25, 2013

Over Thanksgiving break, my family and I went to Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo. While we were there, we spent one day exploring the famous Hearst Castle with Melanie, who is as close to a cousin as you can be without actually being related! When touring this 125 room mansion, we saw beautiful pools, rooms, furniture, gardens, and so much more.

Just before we reached Hearst Castle, we saw a bunch of cars pulled over on the side of the freeway, so we pulled over to see what they were looking at. When we hopped out of the car, THERE WERE ZEBRAS BY THE FENCE! It turns out that William Randolph Hearst at one point had his own private zoo. When it was getting shut down and the animals were being sent to zoos, his daughter let the zebras out and they have let them roam ever since!

We first stopped at the visitor’s center, browsed through the museum and store, and watched a movie about Hearst. Then we hopped on a bus that took us all the way to the top of the mountain where the extraordinary castle is built.
