We had just been at Grand Canyon National Park which was insanely crowded, so we were very happy to come to Petrified Forest National Park for some much smaller crowds. Petrified Forest is one of the smaller national parks in he United States. Most people overlook it, but it was actually way cooler than I thought it was going to be. This national park is a must see because of its uniqueness and factor of surprise. Because of its size, you can do the whole park in less than two days and still see everything the park has to offer. What’s really cool is that the park has two very different sides to it; the petrified side and painted desert side.

Speaking At Word Camp San Diego 2018
In April, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at my first WordCamp in San Diego, California. In case you don’t know, WordCamps happen all over the country, organized by locals. WordCamps are conferences where people can to go to attend different sessions about web design, developement, blogging, advanced and beginner techniques, and everything WordPress (publishing software for websites). Each one is unique with different speakers, themes, venues, attendees, and more. Anyone can go to a WordCamp whether your new to WordPress or a long term professional.
The theme for WordCamp San Diego was “A Salute to Our Troops” because the city has plenty of military history. The tracks were named accordingly, the signage, the, website, and the awesome swag matched the theme perfectly! My talk obviously didn’t match and neither did everyone’s, but mine was awesome either way!
Starting A WordPress Blog And Finding Your Blogging Groove
I’m extremely excited to be speaking at WordCamp San Diego about starting my blog and finding my groove, my frustrations and hurdles, how I overcame them, the many tips I’ve learned along the way, and the tools I use.
I started blogging when I was ten years old, almost five years ago. I thought it would be fun and I wanted to share the fun things that my family and I were doing. Also, my mom blogs a lot for fun and for work and she encouraged me to get started.
When I first started blogging, I used tons of adjectives—I mean A LOT of them— in every post and it sounded a bit silly. My early posts also had exclamation points after every single sentence, sometimes two, three, and four of them because I was I was only ten and I thought everything was AWESOME!! Fabulous!! So cool! and Totally amazing!
Snow at Grand Canyon National Park
One of the big things I wanted t happen in my life was to be in actual falling snow. I had seen it on TV and on other people’s social medias and I had wanted to experience it ever since. I FINALLY DID and it was in Grand Canyon National Park! Needless to say it was awesome and one of my favorite memories that trip.
During our hike that day which followed Hermit’s Road, we were in small flurries off and on. I had really hoped that the storm would pick up and dump some snow later that day.
The Hermit’s Rest and Rim Trails
The Hermit’s Rest Trail was probably one my favorite things to do in Grand Canyon National Park. Because we didn’t want to take the extremely crowded shuttle, we ended up walking a lot of it, which was awesome because we got to see some amazing views that shuttle-people wouldn’t see. The Hermit’s Rest Trail has a ton of lookouts plus the building at the end.
Desert View Drive in Grand Canyon National Park
One of the first thing we did in Grand Canyon National Park was the lookouts and activities along the Desert View Drive. This road has 6 official lookouts, a bunch of other pull outs for spectacular views, the Tusayan Ruins and museum, and at the end is the Desert View Watchtower. We explored everything the road has to offer in just over half a day.
The road is 100% accessible with your own vehicle which allowed us to have our ice chest and lunch at some pretty awesome lookouts. In addition to the pullouts and other sites, there are some picnic spots to stop at too.
Winter Spirit Week; Fire vs Ice
The second semester spirit week for this year was Fire vs. Ice theme to go along with the VAPA rally. The dress up days could have been better, but my friends and I still dressed up every day! All of the days were underclassmen against upperclassmen and everyone really wanted to beat each other to win.
All The Days
Starting Video and Getting Comfortable
Right now, “vlogs” are starting to become popular in movies and television, on YouTube, and just for fun. They’re short, or long, videos about what you did that day, an interesting place you’re at, where you’re exploring, and a lot more topics. Basically, a blog but with videos instead of words and pictures. Before starting our road trip to Death Valley National Park, I decided I wanted to start a video blog on YouTube.
