Broadway At Music Circus Debut: Shrek The Musical

June 11, 2019

Julie Gallaher of Sacramento Top 10 and Get On The Map recently reached out to my mom who blogs at Inspired Imperfection and invited us to preview the show and write reviews as part of the #BroadwaySacramentoAmbassadors! We all met up before the show at Chandos — hello, tacos! — right across the street. Yummy!

Shrek the Musical kicks off the 69th season of Broadway At Music Circus today and runs through June 16, 2019 at Wells Fargo Pavilion.

Based on the Oscar-winning animated film, Shrek the Musical brings the beloved swamp-dwelling ogre Shrek and his trusty sidekick Donkey to life. When his swamp is overrun by fairytale creatures banished from the Kingdom of Duloc by Lord Farquaad, Shrek embarks on a life-changing journey to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon, deliver her to Farquaad for marriage, and get his swamp back. Along the way, he meets Donkey, farts a lot, and falls in love.

This show was so funny! While I loved Aladdin, STOMP!, and Little Shop Of Horrors, I laughed the most at this show — especially the song full of farts and what they call “potty humor.” And really, you can’t help but laugh every time the tiny Lord Farquaad walks on stage… his tiny legs were hilarious!

If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family, or you’re looking for a something fun to do for Father’s Day, look no further. Shrek the Musical is the perfect choice for every member of your family.
