Our family loves to go on vacation and have adventures, especially at the beach!
On our recent camping trip at New Brighton State Beach in Santa Cruz (AMAZING!), we went through A LOT of MARSHMALLOWS! You see we just don’t toast marshmallows and eat them… we play with them! We build with them and burn them.
Before our vacation we stocked up on TONS of marshmallows! Everywhere we saw cool shapes, sizes, and colors of marshmallows, we bought them. Once we got packing we realized we probably over did it, but we didn’t care! We packed all of the marshmallows, toothpicks, wooden kabob skewers, and more building supplies.
Then after dinner, with the fire roaring, we spread out all the marshmallows and supplies on the picnic table and we create. Everyone builds there own unique creations out of marshmallows. Then when they were done (and they have a photo of it), we burn them! The burned sculptures grow and deform and stick to the logs. The gooey burning mess looked super icky.
Some people build animals, rockets, vehicles, and more! Most creations were so tall that they toppled over and fell into the fire as soon as we set the sculptures on the logs. Some got messed up so we turned them into our own inventions or aliens.
Check out our marshmallow sculptures!
If you have never made or burned a marshmallow sculpture, you have got to try it on your next camping trip!
