New Years In Tahoe

New Years At Lake Tahoe: Little Snow, Big Fun

December 31, 2013

This year we spent New Year’s Even in Tahoe — and it was so cool! We went skating and sledding, we played in the little snow there was, and just relaxed and played! I had so much fun hanging out with my baby cousins Riley and Chloe this vacation because they are super silly and extra cute!

One day while in Tahoe, we went to Northstar for the day and got to go ice skating.

Ice skating was the coolest thing ever! It took a lot of time to get the hang of it and it was hard, but when I did, I was skating around the middle of the rink and in circles around everyone. I even figured out how to do a spin although I fell A LOT trying that. I also fell A LOT when I was starting out because it is way harder than it looks! NOT KIDDING! So hard! I loved skating and trying something new!

At the vacation house, we did a lot of arts and crafts! We made numbers and decorated them with sequins, feathers, and stickers for a New Year’s Day photo and we did a lot of coloring and made princess hats to wear on New Year’s Eve!

Sledding In Lake Tahoe

Icy Snow Makes For Great Sledding

December 30, 2013

New Years in the snow = lots of fun with family!

There isn’t much snow around Lake Tahoe this year, but there we did find an awesome shady spot close to our vacation house to go sledding.

I was so nervous the first time, but when I went down that first hill… It was the coolest thing ever! I knew my brother would like it because he loves exploring and the outdoors, but I was surprised that my mom and dad tried it too! One of the many hills we rode on had a giant bump at the bottom and everyone that went down that hill flew into the air! It was a bit scary, but totally fun!

Groovy Halloween Hippie

Groovin’ My Way To Candy

October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween, man.

Halloween was so much fun this year! To celebrate, I brought in doughnuts to school… but we added monster teeth to the middle of each doughnut to make it look like a monster! My friends loved the doughnuts :)

I was super exited to be a hippie and get my groove on! My costume had some super cool glasses, an awesome headband, and some pretty wild pants and shirt! My brother Carter decided to be the famous explorer, Indiana Jones! Everyone loved our costumes, we saw some pretty cool costumes around the neighborhood, and we scored a TON of candy. Oh yeah!

We also got tons of candy from Fairytale Town in Williamland Park, Sacramento. Fairytale Town does a safe Halloween event every year and this year’s theme was the Hobbit with Smaug The Dragon! They have almost 20 different candy stops around the park where you can trick-or-treat, and the best part is, you can stop at the same candy stop more than once!

Before Halloween we went to my cousins’ house for some Halloween pictures and pumpkin carving! Everybody got to decorate and carve their own pumpkin, even Chloe with her tiny little pumpkin! The pumpkins where all very scary looking! We had so much fun, but my mom didn’t enjoy the scooping out the goo part!

Fishing At Mandarin Orchard

The (Tiniest) Catch of the Day

September 22, 2013

Come one, come all to see the tiniest catch of the day!

My Grandpa and Grandma live on 5 acres in Newcastle, California and have a big pond in their Organic Mandarin Orchard. We LOVE to go fishing there, and this time when my family went fishing at my grandpa Steve’s house, I caught the tiniest of all fish!

My cousins Riley and Chloe came with us to go fishing. It was actually my Uncle Dustin’s first time going fishing — EVER! He had a lot of fun! Riley and Chloe liked the fish too, but Chloe mostly sat in the shade and watched.

We all liked touching the slimy fish bodies. I thought it was super funny that my brother Carter caught a fish with nothing but the scent of worms and no actual worms on his hook! Carter, with nothing but the scent, still caught a bigger fish than I did! I only caught the tiniest fish in the pond, while everyone else caught the bigger fish. Even Riley caught a bigger fish than I did!
